Body Language on Camera Is a Different Discipline

Everything that works on stage shrinks on a webcam. Here is what to adjust for online presence.

The frame changes the rules

On stage, gestures travel outward. On a webcam, anything beyond shoulder width disappears. Keep gestures inside the frame, chest height, and slower than feels natural.

Eye line and lighting

Camera at eye level, light in front of you, background quiet. These three fixes improve perceived confidence more than any speaking drill.

Energy compensation

Screens flatten expression. Add roughly ten percent more energy in the face and voice than you would in person — not performance, just compensation.
